Fraction Bingo Card Maker


School teachers are almost always searching for interesting activities, that are suitable for the classroom, that can help with practising fractions. One idea that some teachers are now applying in their classrooms is to play the game of bingo. The way fraction bingo is conducted is almost exactly like the standard game of bingo except that the bingo cards are printed with numbers that are the solutions to the teacher's chosen fractions questions rather than the usual bingo numbers. Each one of the students in the class is of course given one of these bingo cards, the teacher takes the role of the bingo caller, but of course reads out fraction problems rather than the bingo numbers directly, and thus you proceed with the game. Winners are determined according to the normal rules of bingo, except marked off numbers only count if they are crossed off as a result of answering one of the fractions problems.

The key requirement that you will need to play fractions bingo in class is to obtain bingo cards printed with the solutions to the teacher's fraction questions. This may well seem like a significant problem. But, the good news however is it is quite straightforward to print some customised bingo cards - your computer and a bingo card maker program. All you need to do is install the software on your computer, and you could be printing out customized cards just moments later.

To summarise, more and more teachers are discovering modified versions of the game of bingo are help with classroom math practise. It is an enjoyable activity, but also containing educational value - and you might well also!
